I used it in NS 3.0 Beta 3 with Steam and it worked...
I added the following in server.cfg: cpustat_freq 6 cpustat_numcpu 1 cpustat_display 0 cpustat_passwd modns Then in-game, I typed the following in console with rcon: rcon cpustat 1 1 for: cpustat <userid> <switch> where <userid> is your ID on the server, if you're the first to join the server, you get 1, if you're second, you get 2, if you're the 2345th to join, you get 2345, etc... Type "status" in console to get it... after you've typed the cpustat command, it should work. It will display randomly for a few seconds... And as I said, cl_autohelp must be set to 1 |

Does anyone have any bugs to report for this plugin, I'm available to hack some code for the next few days and would like to take care of any if they exist.

The current version of this plugin seems incompatible with the latest version of Metamod and NS 3.0 Final. It crashes the server as soon as I try to get statistics.

I was successful in getting this to work on a win32 hlds BUT I don't have it set up correctly: CPU in Use: 100% Entity Count: 231 Server FPS: 90
Any clue what I need to do? |

Workin on mine.. I don't have my bots enabled at the moment cause everyone kept complaining.
CPU in Use: 5% Entity Count 275 Server FPS 94 With the new server I'm building tomorrow, those FPS better be in the triple digits. sys_ticrate 1000 'Why would you want more than 100 fps, Skitchy?' you ask. Simple formula, 1000 / fps = added ping in ms At 100 fps, no matter what you do, the server will be adding a 10 ping to everyone, because it's polling frames 100 times a second. At 300 fps, there's a 3ms lag, at 1000 fps, its 1ms. When you start dropping into the 30s, as most servers seem to do, it's adding 33ms to all the pings. A while back my server was getting SEVEN frames a sec, which added 143ms to everyone. BUT.. there's a caveat. You need a program to force your OS into using a high-res timer instead of the low one it commonly uses. So, just open Media Player or something similar, and watch your fps bop up to unprecedented levels, and your pings drop like rocks. There's another.. I've heard scuttlebutt that some Intels and some AMDs don't support a full 1000fps and you might only get 100... something to look into. Very interesting. First off, let's try to figure out why mine is showing 100% constantly. Are you on a Windows or Linux server? If Windows, did you install the p4_opitomized cpustat_ns_mm.dll or the normal one? Would the p4_opitomized cpustat_ns_mm.dll work on an AMD machine? edit Tried p4_opitomized version, no change.
I am also ignorant on FPS, although I am somewhat aware of it's importance. Is my FPS of 90 good or bad? If bad how can I improve it? Thanks for all your help, and patience. This post has been edited by depot: Mar 9 2005, 02:21 PM |

My hands are all cut to hell so Ima keep it short..
I'm runnin a Win2k3 Enterprise server, Athlon TBird 1.33ghz, it's usin the win32 addons/cpustat/dlls/cpustat_ns_mm.dll line in metamod's plugins, Keep in mind the plugin, as far as I can tell... just reads total CPU usage, not NS's usage, so if you have other processes using CPU time it'll register on the plugin... (I think) And at 90 FPS, 1000 / 90 = 11.1 ms added, which to ME is fine.. but people get cranky about their pings, so if you wanna boost it, just do like sys_ticrate 200 or what have you.. if it doesn't go up, open up media player and shrink it... |

I dont hear any complaining about pings or latencies, and I don't understand sys_ticrate and what it does, so I'll leave well enough alone there.
I still don't see why it's measuring cpu usage at a constant 100%. |
